ChatGPT Plus: $20. Claude Pro: $20. Google AI Pro: $19.99.
Same neighborhood. Very different reasons to pay.
So don’t ask, “Which AI is the smartest?”
Ask this instead:
“Which one makes me copy and paste the least?”
The 10-second answer
Do a bit of everything → ChatGPT
Live in documents and PDFs → Claude
Live in Gmail, Drive and Docs → Gemini
ChatGPT: the all-rounder
Research something. Analyze a file. Crunch data. Generate an image. Switch to a completely different task five minutes later.
That is where ChatGPT makes the most sense.
It is less about owning one killer workflow and more about covering a lot of them without changing tools.
Think: AI Swiss Army knife.
Claude: the document desk
If your day is mostly long writing, reports and PDFs, Claude deserves a serious look.
There is one surprisingly important difference: Anthropic says Claude can analyze both text and visual elements such as charts and graphics in PDFs of 100 pages or fewer.
OpenAI currently says visual retrieval for images and charts embedded inside PDFs is limited to ChatGPT Enterprise, not Plus.
So two AIs can receive the same PDF but effectively see different information.
If charts are the point of the document, that matters.
Think: AI document desk.
Gemini: the Google-native choice
Gemini gets more interesting when you stop treating it as a standalone chatbot.
Google AI Pro plugs Gemini into the ecosystem many people already use every day: Gmail, Docs, Drive and other Google services.
If your work already lives there, fewer files need to travel back and forth between apps.
Think: AI built into your Google life.
So which one should you pay for?
If your tasks jump between research, files, data, images and random problem-solving, start with ChatGPT.
If your work is heavily document- and PDF-based, look closely at Claude.
If most of your work already happens inside Google, Gemini becomes much more compelling.
Forget the benchmark leaderboard for a minute.
The best AI subscription is the one that removes the most copy-paste from your week.
Pricing and product capabilities checked against official OpenAI, Anthropic and Google documentation in September 2026. Features and limits can change.
